After two decades of exhaustive innovation in garment and textile design, Massimo Osti stepped away from C.P. Company in 1994, having cemented his legacy as the father of Italian sportswear. Launched as Chester Perry in 1971, C.P. Company would quickly become a testbed for Osti’s fascination with the utility inherent to military uniforms. He found success transposing details mined from his ever-expanding archive of military jackets, accessories, and textile samples onto the alpine sportswear that was infiltrating downslope into the wardrobes of city dwellers across Europe, most visibly with the integrated goggles that would become a signature feature across the brand, themselves derived from protective hoods worn by Japanese Civil Defence personnel. Osti brought the same level of passion to his exploration of garment dyeing, resulting in textiles bearing eye-catching colors of unparalleled chromatic depth and intensity. Currently led by designer Alessandro Pungetti and creative director Paul Howard, C.P. Company continues to deliver a thoughtfully designed range of outerwear and classic athletic base layers, all the while coherently expanding on a truly exceptional heritage.
